Upgrades For Better Diesel Truck Performance

Trucks could be powered either by a gas engine or diesel engine. Many love those with diesel-powered engines because of their efficiency. Efficient as they already are, there is still some room for improvement.
So what do you do to your diesel trucks to improve their performance? Yes, you read that right. You can still do upgrades to improve diesel-engine performance. In a previous post, we’ve given you tips on improving the performance of gas engine trucks.
Today, we are putting the spotlight on diesel engine trucks. There may be some similarities but there are also other things that are only suitable for those with diesel engines. Here’s a list of what to upgrade for better performance.
Utilize Diesel Fuel Additives
One way to make sure that the injection system of your diesel engine is running efficiently and smoothly is by using additives meant to help clean your fuel injection. There are different diesel additives and they can give various benefits. Such additives may include water demulsifiers, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, freeze depressants, and many others.
Add Diesel Tuners
If gas-powered engines have power tuners, diesel-powered engines also have diesel tuners. They are electronic devices that essentially program your engine to perform according to your needs. Installing them is easy and it can greatly help you with fuel economy too.
Exhaust System Upgrades
Another way to improve the performance of your truck is to upgrade your exhaust system. In order to efficiently release a huge volume of exhaust at a time, you might want to consider having something that has a bigger capacity. The more horsepower you have, the more exhaust you need to release. A more capable exhaust system helps balance that out.
Diesel Fuel Injector Upgrades
Upgrading the fuel injectors can help improve performance because it helps provide higher power output for your engine. Furthermore, it also improves fuel efficiency. Some claim that their modifications can improve the horsepower by about 50 to 100, provided that mechanical adjustments are correctly done. To make sure that fuel is optimally delivered, there is a specifically designed hole pattern used.
Consider Using A Turbocharger
Turbochargers may not be that affordable but they are a great investment if you really want to improve the performance of your diesel truck. It is one of the best things to have for a towing truck or those that you use to haul heavy loads. With a turbocharger, more air will be available in the combustion chamber of your engine. With that, more fuel could be mixed with it to provide more power to the truck.
Change Air Filters Plus Cold Air Intake Kits
There are better aftermarket air filters available and you should also consider cold air intake kits. Using both of these will further help allow more airflow to your engine. With better filters, fewer contaminants will get into the engine to make it clean. The more air available for your engine, the more power would be available.
Regular Engine Tune-Ups
Aside from upgrades and aftermarket products, it is also important for you to perform engine tune-ups regularly. By doing so, you can regularly check if there are any issues that could negatively affect your engine, thus also negatively affecting the performance.
Wear and tear are something that you want to avoid. This could easily happen because the engine uses very high pressure. Also, make sure that those who do the engine maintenance are experienced.
