Leader Instruments once again attended the National Association of Broadcasters' Media Show and Conference in Las Vegas, NV on April 14-17, 2008. Over 105,000 registered attendees are reported to have attended NAB 2008, which includes a record high of 28,310 international attendees.

This year, our booth was designed to showcase the new products and technologies that Leader has developed to help the broadcasting, production, and post-production industries ensure the quality of their video material. We once again set up a live set, with a model and various objects, to let the audience get the feel of our products. This year, however, we added a little something extra by equipping one of our kiosks with adjustment knobs to let the user modify the lighting of the set to truly see the effectiveness of our tools.

We introduced two new waveform monitors designed to satisfy the needs of both creative and technical talent. The LV5380 has an 8.4 inch built-in XGA display (1024x768), and its dimensions are 4RU high, 0.5RU wide, and approximately 3 inches deep. The LV5330 has a 6 inch built-in XGA display (1024x768), and its dimensions are 3RU high, 0.5RU wide, and approximately 3 inches deep. Both units are equipped with two auto-detecting HD/SD-SDI inputs with a switched output, and they come with a USB connector to accommodate screen shots for documentation purpose, personalize presets, and perform software updates. They are designed for use ideally on-camera or rack-mounted. More information will be available shortly on these two units.

To compliment CINELITE, we introduced another software option for our newer waveform monitors called CINEZONE. The CINEZONE Display System uses false colors to represent luminance values on a picture display; this allows for quick and easy confirmation of lighting levels without the use of complicated waveform representations. Highlights are marked in red, mid-grays in green and shadows in blue. User settable facilities are provided for scale adjustments allowing for the exclusion of certain zones from the display for better user visibility. (CINEZONE is optional for the LV5800 and LV5380, but it is offered as standard on our new LV5330.)

Finally, we showcased several new option modules for our LV5800 waveform monitor. The LV58SER04 DVB-ASI card, available now, can aide in the monitoring of MPEG2 Transport Streams. The LV58SER05 Optical card can monitor and evaluate SDI signals that are transmitted over optical cabling. Finally, we demonstrated the LV58SER3Gbps 3G card for monitoring SMPTE425M-B 3G signals. The LV58SER04 is available now, and the LV58SER05 and LV58SER3Gbps will be available in the near future.
